Heath Slater and Rhyno (c) vs The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton) for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

Winner: Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton

Shortly after their victory, Bray Wyatt placed his belt on Luke Harper’s left shoulder.  Randy Orton and Luke Harper stared at each other intensely, as their has been some friction between the two, but Randy showed his respect by placing his belt on Luke’s right shoulder.

Nikki Bella vs Carmella in a No Disqualification Match

Winner: Nikki Bella

After the match, Carmella gets on the mic and tells Nikki that score isn’t even near settled from Survivor Series and that she wasn’t the one who attacked her.  Carmella informed Nikki and the WWE Universe that she knows who did and it was Nikki’s friend, Natalya.

The Miz dedicates his victory to Smackdown Live’s General Manager Daniel Bryan.

Kalisto vs Baron Corbin in a Chair Match

Becky Lynch (c) vs Alexa Bliss in a Tables Match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship

Winner: Alexa Bliss

AJ Styles (c) vs Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match for the WWE World Championship

Winner: AJ Styles

James Ellsworth turns heel by pushing the ladder which Dean Ambrose was on top of.

Who else loved this pay-per-view?  I was completely engrossed with all the matches and as the show progressed, the matches got better.  I would rate this pay-per-view a 9 out of 10; although this is one of WWE’s best pay-per-view (if not the best one) this year, the 10 Man Tag Team Match is what prevented this from being a 10/10 rating.  There is no doubt in my eyes that The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship was the best match of the night.  Although we had a Chairs Match, a Tables Match and a Tables, Ladders AND Chairs match, their match was undeniably the most physical.  They pushed their bodies beyond their limit while filled with passion and determination to become or retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.  Clearly, the better man won.  Congratulations, Miz.  This was truly one of your best matches and certainly a well-deserved victory.

Instagram Photo of the Week (08.27.16)

This week’s Instagram Photo of the Week comes from the longest reigning Diva’s Champion and my favorite women’s wrestler today, Nikki Bella.

Nikki made her surprising return to WWE on last Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view after being out of action for 10 months due to a neck injury.  The neck (along with the head) is one of the most sensitive parts of the body and it was possible this could have prevented Nikki from ever wrestling again.  Knowing Nikki, she wouldn’t tolerate such a possibility.  She’s recovered properly and worked very hard to get back to fill the void her absence has left in the company.  On Tuesday, Nikki posted a photo taken moments before her return on SummerSlam as well as how that moment felt.

It’s so good to have you back, Nikki!  I am excited to continue witnessing all the historic moments you’ll make within WWE.  There are many more of them to come, without a doubt.

Warrior Wednesday (Conservative Speaker)

The Ultimate Warrior was a phenomenon in the WWE.  He paved the way for many others to unleash their inner warriors when it came to pursuing the dream of professional wrestling.  Just like those he inspired whether it was in or out of the ring, he also had his moments of failure, victory, defeat and conquer.  In honor of The Ultimate Warrior’s legacy, every Wednesday is Warrior Wednesday.  This week, we are discussing Warrior’s short career as a Conservative Speaker.

ultimatewarrior

After The Ultimate Warrior had retired from wrestling in 1999, he had a brief career as a conservative speaker and commentator. During this time, he partnered with another conservative spokesperson in Daniel Pinheiro and they criticized left-wing politics.  While speaking at the University of Connecticut, he made a comment about homosexuals stating, “Queering doesn’t make the world work.” This comment led to some controversy which resulted in Warrior clarifying this on his official website, stating that “the human race would die out if everyone was a homosexual.”

WHAT A NIGHT!  That is what professional wrestling is all about!  I was entertained from beginning to end.  I gasped, I laughed, I screamed, I smiled and I cried; NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn brought out every emotion possible in me. Like NXT TakeOver: The End, I rate NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 1o/10 (any other rating would be an insult to this incredible event) with The Revival vs Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Tag Team Championship being the match of the evening.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack while watching this match!  I’m pretty sure I grabbed my chest at one point from all the anxiety I felt while watching it.  It’s a terrible shame Gargano and Ciampa didn’t win the NXT Tag Team Championship tonight, but I know their time will come.  NXT and Triple H know what they’re doing with them so I have no fear they’ll have the gold around their waists in no time.

Instagram Photo of the Week (08.20.16)

This week’s Instagram Photo of the Week comes from Chief Brand Officer and Monday Night Raw Commissioner, Stephanie McMahon.

Stephanie announced on her official Instagram page back in May that she would be writing a memoir about her life growing up in WWE.  Fast forward to this Friday when she once again took to Instagram to announce she had officially completed the book!

stephbook

I have been continuously thinking about this book since its announcement.  Not only am excited for its release, but I am extremely hopeful for a book signing somewhere in the East Coast so I will have the privilege of meeting her and getting it autographed.  I’m not sure if that will happen due to her incredibly busy schedule, but only time will tell.  Who else will be purchasing this book along with me?  Let me know by leaving a comment below!
