AJ Styles (c) vs Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match for the WWE World Championship

Winner: AJ Styles

James Ellsworth turns heel by pushing the ladder which Dean Ambrose was on top of.

Who else loved this pay-per-view?  I was completely engrossed with all the matches and as the show progressed, the matches got better.  I would rate this pay-per-view a 9 out of 10; although this is one of WWE’s best pay-per-view (if not the best one) this year, the 10 Man Tag Team Match is what prevented this from being a 10/10 rating.  There is no doubt in my eyes that The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship was the best match of the night.  Although we had a Chairs Match, a Tables Match and a Tables, Ladders AND Chairs match, their match was undeniably the most physical.  They pushed their bodies beyond their limit while filled with passion and determination to become or retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.  Clearly, the better man won.  Congratulations, Miz.  This was truly one of your best matches and certainly a well-deserved victory.

Addressing Absence // TLC 2016 Pay-Per-View Predictions

Before I begin discussing my predictions for tonight’s pay-per-view, I wanted to address my absence for the past two months.  I apologize for not keeping wwebloggingbetty.com updated for this period of time.  When I wasn’t writing, I thought about writing, promoting and networking my blog but most importantly, interacting with each and everyone of you.  The only way to describe my reason for my absence is I get into my own head and I pull myself in different directions.  I knew it would lead me back to blogging, it’s what I am passionate about and love doing.  I intend for this to never happen again and I hope I haven’t lost you as my readers.  You are way too valuable to me, more than you realize.  I apologize for any inconvenience my absence may have caused.

Alright, now let’s move onto tonight’s TLC pay-per-view predictions!

Tag Team Championship Match for Backlash // Chad Gable injured

tagteamtitlesLast night, The WWE Universe witnessed the final matches for the Tag Team Tournament on Smackdown Live.  The winner of each match would move forward to Backlash to compete and possibly become the inaugural Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions!  Unfortunately, the night didn’t go in the direction the American Alphas had intended.

The American Alphas Jason Jordan and Chad Gable kickstarted the Tournament against 2x Tag Team Champions The Usos. The Usos played dirty right from the beginning as they immediately attacked The American Alphas as soon as the bell rang.  The American Alphas bounced back incredibly quickly as they were victorious with what felt like a minute into the match!  As The American Alphas continued their celebration, The Usos shook hands and showing sportsmanship as usual.  What happened next took everyone completely by surprise as one half of The Usos (no clue which one if I am being honest) superkicked Jason Jordan square in the face.  This allowed The Usos to gang up on Chad Gable and focus on injuring his leg, which they were successful.

It was undetermined at that time as to the status of Gable’s injury although Shane McMahon gave us an update on Talking Smack.  Shane reported that Chad Gable’s MCL was injured and is required 2-4 weeks out of action to allow his injury to heal.  Luckily, this injury does not require surgery but it will prevent Gable and Jordan to compete at Backlash this Sunday.  Daniel Bryan made a decision on the spot that The Usos and The Hype Bros will have a match at Backlash to see which team will qualify to the Tag Team Championship match that same night.  Shane agreed and the match has now been implemented into the Backlash pay-per-view.

If no one picked it up, I have the results for the second Tag Team Tournament match held later in the evening. The Hype Bros took of the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno, which they lost.  Heath Slater celebrated their victory as he hugged his wife and all seven of his redheaded children watching in the front row.  The Hype Bros, as already discussed, do have an opportunity to compete in the Tag Team Championship match at Backlash if they are able to defeat The Usos.

See who becomes Smackdown Live’s inaugural Tag Team Champions and tune into Backlash this Sunday, September 11th on the WWE Network!

Smackdown Live debuts Women’s Division and Tag Team Championship Belts

Rumors have been circulating around the WWE Universe that Smackdown Live would be adding Tag Team Championships and a Women’s Championship to their brand which General Manager Daniel Bryan confirmed last night.  Daniel Bryan was joined by Commissioner Shane McMahon, the Smackdown Live Women’s Division and Tag Team Division to unveil the new Championship belts.  The belts are identical to those of Monday Night Raw with the exception of replacing the red with their signature blue color.  Photos of Smackdown Live’s new Championship belts are provided below.

Curt Hawkins to return to WWE

Smackdown Live revealed last night that they added a new free agent to their roster: Curt Hawkins!

curthawkins

Curt Hawkins was a member of WWE’s roster for 8 years before being released from the company in 2014. During his time with WWE, we held the Tag Team Championship with tag team partner, Zack Ryder.

It looks like from the promo Smackdown Live aired last night that WWE is repackaging him to be a Chuck Norris-type persona.  His return date is unknown at this time, but I will certainly provide that information once it is released to the public.

The new Smackdown Live in The New Era

If you thought last night’s Smackdown Live! was just as good as Monday Night Raw, you’re not alone.  Grant it, they didn’t debut a new Championship belt, nor did any title changes hands, but Smackdown Live! does have an incredible Women’s roster, two of the hottest free agents signed to their brand, and undeniably the best #1 Contender for the WWE Championship WWE has seen in a long, long time.

The show kicked off just like Raw, with a new video compliation of their roster accompanied by new music.  After it ended, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were standing in the center of the ring, surrounded by their roster on the apron. Daniel announced that they would hold a 6 Pack Challenge as their main event where six members of the roster will compete to become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship.  The #1 Contender will then face Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam. Daniel and Bryan announced five of these six men would be John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin and AJ Styles.  The sixth man would be determined by whoever wins the Battle Royal which was the first match to kick off the show.

The final four of this Battle Royal were Kalisto, Kane, Zack Ryder and Apollo Crews. Kane eliminated Kalisto first, followed by Zack Ryder, which left him and Apollo Crews as the final two.  Apollo Crews somehow channeled the strength to throw The Demon over the top rope and advanced to the 6 Pack Challenge.  The 6 Pack Challenge was an exciting main event and everyone did a fantastic job, but ultimately, it was Dolph Ziggler who Superkicked The Phenomenal AJ Styles in the face followed by the pin to solidify his spot as the #1 Contender.  Of course Dean Ambrose came out and had a stare down moment with Dolph but the interaction between these two men was cordial and both Bryan and McMahon came out to celebrate this exciting matchup.

The Womens roster on Smackdown Live! is incredibly diverse, and we were reintroduced to them last night.  After Becky Lynch was discussing her win against Natalya, she was interrupted by Alexa Bliss, a former NXT Superstar.  Alexa was then interrupted by Naomi, making her return after being out of action due to injury and filming Marine 5.  Naomi was the interrupted by another NXT Superstar Carmella who was interrupted by the final member of the Womens roster, “All Red Everything” Eva Marie.  I was so excited to see the Women’s roster of Smackdown Live! together in one room.  Every woman is so unique and so talented in her own way and I am so excited to see what lies ahead of them in Smackdown Live!

One person who doesn’t know what lies ahead is Heath Slater. He interrupted the show demanding a spot in the 6 Pack Challenge, making it a 7 Pack Challenge (which makes no sense) and a spot on the roster.  Insulted when Shane McMahon informed him he needed to send in a resume, Heath Slater erupted in a rant, stating he was the hottest free agent in the industry.  He was incorrect, as one of the hottest free agents, who also happened to be signed to Smackdown Live, was just waiting for the opportunity to hit Slater with his signature move.  The wait was finally over, and Slater’s rant was ended with a GORE! GORE! GORE!  Yes ladies and gentlemen, Rhyno has been signed to Smackdown Live! Rhyno will be accompanied by another hot free agent who will be returning to Smackdown Live! soon: “The Gold Standard” Shelton Benjamin!  I practically died at this announcement because I have always been a big fan of his.  To hear he’s coming back to WWE, to Smackdown Live! made me just as excited as Dlph Ziggler becoming our #1 Contender.

I thought the first night of Smackdown Live! was just as exciting and as entertaining as Monday Night Raw.  I felt a more warming, unified feeling while watching Smackdown Live! than I did watching Raw, but it may just have been because yesterday was my two year anniversary with my boyfriend HAHA.  Still, I loved it and once again feel like “The New Era” has truly begun within WWE.

I’m surprised – like everyone else – that Bayley wasn’t called up but I do think her time is quickly approaching. Whether as Sasha Bank’s tag team partner at Battleground this Sunday or at SummerSlam, she’s definitely on her way up to the main roster.  I’ve read online how a lot of people are not happy with how the draft turned out, but I’m confused as to why.  These Superstars are the members of their roster, regardless of the brand.  Stephanie, Mick, Shane and Daniel are utilizing those they have and I don’t think The WWE Universe is keeping in mind the vision each brand has for them. Raw and Smackdown Live may have some exciting storylines and rivalries in the works so don’t write this draft off too quickly!  They deserve the opportunity to show us why they made the choices they did as well as why they are the better brand over the other.
