Before we begin with the matches and results from this week’s Cruiserweight Classic Qualifying Matches, I want to begin by correcting an error I had made. I had stated on last week’s Cruiserweight Classic Qualifying Matches that it was the final qualifying round, which is incorrect. This week was indeed the last week of qualifying matches and the second round will begin the following week. I apologize for any confusion this misinformation may have caused anyone. Now onto why you’re really here.
This week’s final round qualification matches were all incredibly entertaining and it was exciting to see who would advance to the second round. The matches of this week’s Cruiserweight Classic and their results are provided below:
Rich Swann vs Jason Lee
Winner: Rich Swann
Noam Dar vs Girv Sihra
Winner: Noam Dar
Jack Gallagher vs Fabian Aichner
Winner: Jack Gallagher
Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa
Winner: Johnny Gargano
After each match had declared a winner, we learned who their opponent will be for the second round. Those individuals are as follows:
Lince Dorado will face Rich Swann
Hoho Lun will face Noam Dar
Akira Towaza will face Jack Gallagher
TJ Perkins will face Johnny Gargano
I know the internet was buzzing over Gargano and Ciampa’s match, saying it was the best match out of the whole Cruiserweight Classic Tournament thus far. I disagree. As great as it was given the friend factor enhancing the excitement of the match, I don’t feel it was the best match of the night let alone the match of the tournament. To me, the match of the evening was Jack Gallagher vs Fabian Aichner. Both gentlemen were athletic, agile, and highly entertaining. Once you thought we had seen the end of the match, they would kick out every time! I liked Gallagher and Aichner so much that I got behind them both!, which means I would have been thrilled with whoever was to advance. I have a feeling WWE knows what they could have in someone like Aichner, so I don’t think this Wednesday was the last we’ll see of this Italian native.
