Here are the results from tonight’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view:

Dolph Ziggler vs Baron Corbin in a No Disqualification Match

Winner: Baron Corbin

The Usos vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a Tornado Tag Team match

Winner: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Kalisto (c) vs Rusev for the United States Championship

Winner: Rusev

Details: Rusev slammed Kalisto on his back, landing where he was recently injured (I believe it was an injury to his rib but I’m not 100% sure).  While officials were checking on Kalisto, Rusev pulled him back into the ring to continue .  Although the referee continued to pull Rusev aside to stop him, Rusev was able to get his hands on Kalisto and lock in The Accolade.  This Accolade though was amplified, almost breaking Kalisto in half.  Kalisto had no choice but to tap out.

The New Day (c) vs The Vaudevillians for the WWE Tag Team Championship

Winner: The New Day

The Miz (c) (with Maryse) vs Kevin Owens vs Cesaro vs Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship

Winner: The Miz

Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho in the first ever Asylum match

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Charlotte (c) vs Natalya in a Submission match for the WWE Womens Championship

Winner: Charlotte

Details: While Natalya had Charlotte in the Sharpshooter, Rick Flair’s music kicked on.  Natalya broke the Sharpshooter and turned her attention to entrance.  The person who was dressed as Ric Flair turned out to be Dana Brooke.  She further distracted Natalya ringside which allowed Charlotte to recuperate and hit Natalya with the Figure Four, which Natalya had no choice but to tap.

Roman Reigns (c) vs AJ Styles for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Winner:

Details: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson came out to deliver a beatdown – and Boot of Doom – to Roman Reigns.  The Usos came out minutes later to even the score.  After Roman retained his title, Seth Rollins ran out to the ring and attacked Roman.  The pay-per-view ended with Rollins holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the air.

I don’t know about you all, but I’m so disappointed.  I understand it was pretty much rewatching Payback with a few changes, but I was optimistic it would be better.  The only match I enjoyed from beginning to end (just not the individual who won it), which I’m deeming match of the night was the Fatal 4-way.  It was the only match that had me at the edge of my seat, screaming and cussing.  I loved it so much, along with the thumbtacks making an appearance during the Asylum match.  Let’s not forget the main event either!  Reigns (regardless of how much you may love him or hate him) and Styles pulled out all the stops.  These guys brought the fight and Roman Reigns earned the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, even with all the interference. And of course, let’s not forget the return of Seth Rollins!  I’m so happy the rumor of his return tonight was true.  I have truly missed him, along with the rest of the WWE Universe.  My overall score for this pay-per-view is 5/10.

  1. So AJ hits a Styles Clash, a Styles Clash on a steel chair, then like 6 chair shots, but it can’t keep Roman down, but Roman hits one spear and it’s over. I didn’t realize Hulk Hogan was back.

  2. This is the first time I did not watch a pay per view in over a year. Seems like every time I tried to watch them live lately there was a problem with the live feed on my television. From what I just read I didn’t miss much. Glad to hear Roman retained his title but I have to admit, I’m about sick of New Day. I used to like Kofi Kingston and Big E but now they are just plain silly. And even though Xavier Woods is from my home state of North Carolina, he has never been some one I cared to watch. Don’t really care for The Miz either but am certainly glad Kevin Owens did not win that match. Every time he opens his mouth, i get nauseous. Dean Ambrose over Jericho suits me fine as well as Charlotte over Natalya. Can’t wait for Cena to come back, Love him or hate him, you gotta respect the man.

    1. Hey Lori!

I agree when you say you didn’t miss much, although if you do subscribe to the WWE Network, I *HIGHLY* recommend you check out the Fatal 4-way match. It was non-stop action and absolutely incredible.

I actually did not like The New Day in the beginning but have grown to love them. I, like you, never caught onto Xavier Woods but I do think he brings something to this duo.

I’m curious to see what Cena will do once he returns next week. I personally don’t like him as a wrestler but as a person, I think he’s great. All the charitable work he does and his personality on “Total Divas” is hysterical. I would love to hang out with him!

    1. I definitely agree with you, Tiffany! I was SUPER PISSED that Dana Brooke came out to interfere with the match. I was really hoping for a clean match between the two because Natalya and Charlotte are amazing opponents. I was hoping to see a rerun of their NXT Championship match but unfortunately not.

  3. So far I’ve seen like 20 guys saying the WWE doesn’t care about the fans cuz AJ didn’t win the title. What a bunch of entitled crybabies! For one thing, heels have held most titles, for longer than any. Aside from Hogan. I wouldn’t call SCSA a face. The Rock was heel half of his run. Shawn Michaels, too. Same with Bret Hart. Slaughter was heel. Iron Shiek. Bob Backlund. How far back should I go? Ric Flair was always a heel, and was Champ longer than anyone. So when did fans start demanding who champions should be? Friggin’ babies…LOL.

    1. I definitely agree with you, Eddie. I feel WWE knows they have something incredibly special with AJ Styles and they are NOT going to abuse it/him. He WILL become our WWE World Heavyweight Champion one day, but I think WWE is waiting for the most opportune, perfect moment for it. I for one cannot WAIT and am so excited for when it happens.

  4. I was really happy that Roman Reigns won, but yeah I know it’s been reported elsewhere that Vince is tired of Reigns getting booed out of the building, so he wants Reigns to drop the title…I just don’t want to see Seth Rollins with it again. If they put it back on him they’re taking 3 steps back…Oh another beef I have is with the Womens Division. I’m starting to think Vince or somebody still has some serious beef with Bret Hart. I cannot ever recall Natalya winning the Title from anyone; if she did it must have been short-lived. I think I would hand in my resignation after being with the Company for what, 10 years, and no long term title reigns. Nattie deserves better than that, IMO.

    1. Hey Marie! I’ve heard those rumors also about taking the title of Reigns. I feel WWE missed their opportunity with Reigns the year prior. He was so over with the WWE Universe in 2014 and should have had him win the Royal Rumble and go on to win the Championship. Instead, they give it to Batista. I don’t know what they’ll do with Roman if they take it off of him. It’s bound to happen but his fate is in the air. I personally loved Rollins as Champion and hope they give him an opportunity to get it back.

I do feel bad for Natalya as she should have a title reign after all this time but rumor has it Sasha Banks will take it from Charlotte at SummerSlam. I guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens with Reigns, Rollins and Natalya!
