The Ultimate Warrior was a phenomena in the WWE. He paved the way for many others to unleash their inner warriors when it came to pursuing the dream of professional wrestling. Just like those he inspired whether it was in or out of the ring, he also had his moments of failure, victory, defeat and conquer. James Brian Hellwig was born June 16, 1959 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He is the oldest of five children who was raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family when he was only 12 years old. Hellwig was fortunate to have a father figure in his life when his mother remarried. He attended and graduated from Veedersburg’s Fountain Central High School and attended Indiana State University for only one year.
